Urinals Bidets
Definitions of Urinals and Bidets
What are Urinals?
Urinals are usually used in a commercial situation for male bathrooms. Here are a few items to be taken into consideration when specifying them.
They can be made of vitreous china, stainless steel and plastics.
They are either push-button (usually always in a domestic situation) or have an automatic sensor that flushes them after a number of uses.
As with toilets, they have a cistern water flush system and this has to be mounted or housed somewhere.
The height at which the fitting is mounted at has to be taken into consideration for children as well as adults who may use the fitting.
They may or may not be fitted with a sanitary lid.
What is a Bidet?
A bidet is used to wash personal parts of the body and provides greater hygiene benefits to the user.
If they have an over the rim spray i.e. the water supply is not within the bowl then bacteria cannot carry on back through the water system and contaminate it.
The bidet will often form part of a toilet suite and will coordinate with the other fittings such as the toilet and hand basin.
They are usually made of vitreous china. Other considerations of the features of the bidet are its comfort, if it has a two tap or single tap and spout system and if it has an overflow facility.
All these should be taken into consideration when choosing the fitting.
